Entertainment & Events

Throughout the year the parish Council have a busy calendar of seasonal events for all our residents to enjoy.

April we enjoy the Easter Egg Hunt in Wickersley Wood with the children and adults.

May we enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Gorse to see the bluebells at their finest.

May and June the inaugural Wickersley Walking Festival was planned with over 20 walks with something for everyone to enjoy of all abilities.

May and June also see the Himalayan Balsam and Bracken pulling.

July we're all off to the Gorse for a Teddy Bears picnic

October/November we enjoy our pumpkin procession into the woods for some spooky going ons.

November our Christmas lights switch on event takes place.

This year unfortunately a number of events have had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During the pandemic we have still invited the residents to participate in our virtual events and support the launch of the Facebook page, where the events have been promoted.

75th Anniversary of VE day was celebrated with a poppy trail, 30 poppies were located in different locations around the village and residents were encouraged to submit their findings.

Locations trail provided a quiz and information about notable locations throughout Wickersley

Rainbow Roundabout to say Thankyou to our key workers residents were invited to bring down ribbons and pompoms to the roundabout and create a rainbow on the railings

Yorkshire Day Flags displayed on 1st August.

Thank you tokens have been made from the ribbons from the rainbow roundabout and presented to individuals and businesses to say a massive thankyou for their efforts especially during the pandemic.
